Considering the unusual body discharge
as a nullifier of Al-Wudû’ (ablutions)

Question:
If the Wudû’ nullifier gets out from its unusual path - from the belly for example - is it considered as a nullifier? May Allah reward you with what is best.

Answer:
All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. Peace and blessing be upon whom Allah sent as a mercy to the Worlds, upon his Family, his Companions and his Brothers until the Day of Resurrection:

The basic principle concerning the Wudû’ nullifiers is that: Consideration is given to the two paths and the characteristic (i.e., what goes out of the back and front discharging organs -anus, penis and vagina-), taking into account the characteristic of the discharge. Indeed, what goes out under the impact of a disease such as unconscious urination, bubbles when having gas and the like do not nullify the Wudû’ performed for that prayer. So the person has to renew the Wudû’ for every prayer and this is analogous to the hadith of the Prophet صلّى الله عليه وسلّم when he said to timaBint Abî Hubayshرضي الله عنها when she had a persistent menses:Perform ablutions for every prayer.”(1)

However, if the discharge goes out from other than its normal path such as urinating from the navel, it is not considered as a Wudû’ nullifier since it is not discharged from the usual two paths, except the doctrine adopted by Al-Hanafiyyah (those adhering to the Hanafi School of Fiqh) who see that the Wudû’ nullifier is deemed nullifier in whatever path it is discharged through, including the two paths; and the former view is the soundest.

Thus, it should be noted that one who got his usual discharging path changed to another path because of a surgical operation like the one who releases excrement in an artificial bag [directly] from the belly instead of his anus, then in such a case he has to perform the Wudû’ for every prayer like the menstruating woman, because releasing excrement in his case is due to the disease.

The perfect knowledge belongs to Allah عزَّ وجلَّ; and our last prayer is all the praises and thanks are to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds, and prayers of Allah are to Muhammad and his Family, Companions and Brothers until the Day of Resurrection.
