Concerning the prohibition that remains [even] if the bride changes her clothes alone for At-Tasdîra

Question:
Your position – Cheikh – as regards At-Tasdîra(1) for the bride is the prohibition. So, is it prohibited because of changing dresses several times or because of showing her ‘Awra(2) before the woman who helps her to change her dresses? Does the prohibition remain if she changes her clothes by herself? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. Peace and blessing be upon whom Allah sent as a mercy to the Worlds, upon his Family, his Companions and his Brothers till the Day of Resurrection:

The dresses the bride wears for At-Tasdîra imply, evidently, an excessive expenditure and squandering. Indeed, most of those dresses will not be worn after the consummation of marriage. Furthermore, that would push her to have an attitude of arrogance and ostentation. Also from the bad things: the vertical zipper is at the top of her clothes and at the back of her dresses; therefore, it is unattainable for her to change her clothes by herself. Consequently, her ‘Awra that should be covered would be seen.

In a nutshell, besides the excessive expenditure, squandering, ostentation and arrogance that are included in wearing those clothes, the revealing of ‘Awra when changing the clothes with other women will certainly emphasize the prohibition.

The perfect knowledge belongs to Allah عزَّ وجلَّ. Our last prayer is all praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. Peace and blessing be upon our Prophet, his Family, his Companions and Brothers till the Day of Resurrection.
