The ruling concerning selling hairdressing instruments

Question:

What is the ruling concerning selling hairdressing instruments? And may Allah reward you.

Answer:

All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. Peace and blessing be upon whom Allah sent as a mercy to the Worlds, upon his Family, his Companions and his Brothers until the Day of Resurrection:

Hairdressing instruments have the ruling concerning their objectives. In other words, if they are used in a disobedience like shaving the beards and the face and all that is forbidden to shave, or distorting the appearance of the hair or shaving a part of it only; in this case the ruling is the prohibition concerning their selling and accordingly concerning the money earned [by their selling] because of what they entail of cooperating in the disobedience, pursuant to His saying سبحانه وتعالى:

﴿وَلَا تَعَاوَنُواْ عَلَى ٱلۡإِثۡمِ وَٱلۡعُدۡوَٰنِۚ﴾ [المائدة: 2.]   

The meaning of the verse:

﴾And do not help one another in sin and transgression﴿ [Al-Mâ’ida: 2].

Nevertheless, since in this society (in Algeria), people use these instruments in a way that does not go along with the religious teachings. It is incumbent to avoid suspicious matters for fear of falling in what is forbidden. That is because the major part of a thing takes the place of its totality, as it is established in the jurisprudential rules. This being said, it is permissible -in all cases- to deal with the one who is specifically known to use them in what does not contradict the teachings of Sharî‘a (Islamic Law).

The perfect knowledge belongs to Allah عزَّ وجلَّ; and our last prayer is all the praises and thanks are to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, and prayers of Allah are to Muhammad and his Family, Companions and Brothers until the Day of Resurrection.
