Concerning the ruling of wearing the Burnous
that is worn by the bride

Question:

Does the “Burnous” worn by the bride -on the day of her marriage- entail imitating men or not? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:

All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. Peace and blessing be upon whom Allah sent as a mercy to the Worlds, upon his Family, his Companions and his Brothers till the Day of Resurrection:

Apparently, it entails imitating men, because the Burnous is not conventionally worn by the woman, but it is among the particularities of men as far as I know. Certainly, it is not permissible for women to share with men what is peculiar to them, and by the same token, men are not allowed to share with women what is peculiar to them.

The perfect knowledge belongs to Allah عزَّ وجلَّ. Our last prayer is all praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. Peace and blessing be upon our Prophet, his Family, his Companions and Brothers till the Day of Resurrection
